Lobster Roll Flight Highroller Portland

Yummy Highroller Lobster Roll Flight

Maine is known for great lobster, and unless your diet or palate doesn’t agree, a trip to Maine feels incomplete without a good lobster dish.

Portland, ME is a foodie and craft beer paradise. It has a diverse restaurant scene and a great selection of breweries for those who appreciate beer as a craft. However, my first and most important mission when I arrived in Portland was to find a good Maine lobster roll, which is chilled lobster meat with mayo.

Even before I checked into my hotel room, I made my way to The Highroller Lobster Company in downtown Portland. I was excited to finally get my Maine lobster roll.

Imagine my glee when I saw the Lobster Roll Flight, three 2-ounce lobster rolls each topped with a flavored mayo. I am a huge fan of flights because they are an excellent way to sample different tastes. My choices were lime, jalapeno, and roasted red pepper mayo.

Every bite was fresh, bright, and indulgent, proof that sometimes three small rolls can feel like pure luxury. I loved it so much I went back twice more: once on my way to Canada, and again on my return to the U.S.

Highroller offers the two main types of lobster rolls:

  • Maine: Chilled with mayo

  • Connecticut: Warm with butter

Delish provides more information on the differences between Maine and Connecticut lobster rolls as well as additional dining suggestions in New England.

No lobster meal is cheap, but this one is worth every penny so absolutely work this into your travel budget. Please refer to the Highroller menu for the latest prices.

Highroller also offers lobster and non-lobster meal options to appeal to different palates. I found the service to be efficient and friendly, but parking can be tricky during busy times, and you’ll likely need to use a street meter.
